Our Story

Built to Keep
the Doors Open

Nostalgia Brands was founded by the Stavrakis and Kaba families with a simple conviction: some places are too important to disappear.

We focus on the neighborhood institutions — the corner bakeries where bread comes out before dawn, the family-run spots that have anchored a block for a generation or more. Places that smell like something. Places with history worn into the counters.

When the families who built these places are ready to step away — through retirement, a change of life, or an unexpected transition — we step in. Not to reinvent them. Not to optimize them into something unrecognizable. Just to make sure the door stays open.

We are not a fund. We are a family, acquiring other families’ businesses and caring for them the way a neighborhood institution deserves — with respect, patience, and no intention of ever letting go.

Bakeries

Corner shops and family bakeries where the recipes are older than the sign out front. The kind of place the neighborhood would genuinely mourn.

Neighborhood Dining

The same booth, the same menu, the same face behind the counter for twenty years. Community anchors as much as they are restaurants.

Food & Hospitality

Any beloved local institution in food, provisions, or hospitality that has served its community for a generation and deserves to survive for another.

What We Believe

The Soul of a Place
Is Not for Sale

Every acquisition begins with a promise: the things that make this place beloved stay exactly as they are. The recipes, the staff, the worn floor, the hand-lettered window sign — these aren’t problems to solve. They’re the whole point.

I

If It Ain’t Broke

The recipe unchanged for sixty years. The counter since opening day. We don’t touch what works. Authenticity isn’t a strategy — it’s everything.

II

People First

Every person on staff stays when we acquire a business. They’re the keepers of the culture — the ones who remember how the founder did things.

III

Forever, Not a Flip

We don’t buy to sell. We hold for our lifetimes and our children’s after that. No exit. No timeline. Just stewardship.

IV

Community Above All

A neighborhood institution is bigger than its balance sheet. It’s where people mark milestones. We understand that weight and carry it willingly.

Who We’re For

For Families Ready
for a New Chapter

There comes a moment for many neighborhood institutions when the founder is ready to step back, but the next generation has followed a different path. Or a patriarch passes before anyone was ready for that conversation. Or after thirty years, an owner simply deserves to rest.

These aren’t failures. They’re natural endings that deserve a thoughtful next chapter.

20+ years in the communityYou’ve built something with staying power. That track record is exactly what we look for.
A loyal, long-tenured staffLong-tenured employees are a sign of a healthy culture — not a cost problem.
Regulars who depend on youIf your customers would genuinely mourn your closure, you may be exactly who we’re looking for.
A founder ready for what’s nextWhether retirement, a new venture, or simply a change — we offer a graceful path forward.
Our Promise to Every Seller
Family to Family

“We offer these families what we’d want for our own business: a buyer who will honor their legacy, protect their people, and ensure their life’s work continues serving the neighborhood for generations to come.”
